Designed for collectors, restorers, homeowners, and dealers alike, this weekend-long workshop will focus on new gilding for frames, furniture, and architectural elements. Beginners and intermediate gilders are welcome. We will delve into the basics of traditional water gilding and oil gilding techniques. Tools and materials will be reviewed and students will get hands-on practice in both methods, including the making and use of rabbit skin glue, gesso, bole, gilding liquor, gold leaf, and Dutch metal. Appropriate materials and procedures for toning and application of patina will be discussed as well.

“We had a fabulous time at the class and we now have the tools -or some of them- to have professional disagreements whenever we come across a frame that may be gilded or painted. We are better for the experience you have provided and we are already talking about building ourselves a studio to work in.”

"Just wanted to let you know that I just bought an old Weber piano that was made in 1898. I'm so excited that I have the equipment that you gave me to be able to clean the finish. For a person who doesn't like antiques, I am getting quite a collection. I have two now."
